2013 Most Under-Appreciated Film Winner

Man of Steel

Let me be clear here: I’m not just fighting for a summer blockbuster here, I’m fighting for the soul and integrity of both comic book filmmaking and by extension commercial filmmaking as a whole.  I can understand why a lot of people would have problems with the other four films I nominated for this award and I can understand why some people might not necessarily love Man of Steel, but I do not for the life of me understand the sheer anger and hatred directed towards this film at all.  If anything this seems like nothing less than assault on ambition and vision in and of itself.  Cynical movies like Pacific Rim and Fast & Furious 6 got complete passes this year largely because they opted to wear their stupidity on their sleeves, and Marvel Films has built an empire by coasting on mediocrity, but the second that Zack Snyder even attempts to do something grander and more daring and he gets shot down mercilessly for having the audacity to live outside of his station.  Its fucking bullshit and you people should be ashamed.
