2013 Best Makeup Winner

Lee Daniels’ The Butler

It’s odd that in this bloody and gory roster it’s the relatively non-violent film that came through.  I was going to dock it some points because it never really succeeds at making David Oyelowo look convincingly middle aged, but when I considered the extent of what the film had to do elsewhere I decided that just wasn’t enough to steal the award away.  BTW, I want to give an honorable mention to the film Behind the Candelabra, which may well have won this award if it had been a theatrical release.
