2011 Best Poster Winner

Midnight in Paris

I could nitpick about the fact that the subject of Van Gough’s painting is actually a small village in Southern France and not Paris, but that really is beside the point.  The reason I’m picking this as my poster of the year is that it conveys Paris as the character sees it: as a place where he is surrounded by history even when walking down the most mundane of streets.  Also, big ups to Sony Pictures Classics for standing by this image as the central piece of their campaign.  It would have been easy for them to sell out and just put out a poster with a bunch of actors’ smiling faces over a Parisian skyline.
