2010 Most Under-Appreciated Winner

Green Zone

One of Green Zone’s biggest obstacles was getting over the hump of being an “Iraq movie,” a hurdle made no shorter by the success of The Hurt Locker.  Yes, this is a movie that bears its politics on its sleeves, but I don’t see why that is so offensive to so many critics who don’t seem to object to the message itself.  I don’t think it’s unrealistic to have people discuss political matters out loud, and I don’t think it’s a crime to depict soldiers who actually have opinions about the conflict they’re engaged in.  It also doesn’t change the fact that this is an incredibly well made action film in the Jason Bourne legacy.
