2010 Best Art Direction Winner

All of these nominees put up a good fight, but after a little thought it was evident that Inception would run away with it.  I’ve already mentioned the challenges of creating a variety of dream levels, and that alone would be impressive, but it was the fantastical elements that really put this over the top.  The immense decaying cityscape of Limbo, the exploding paris café, the crazy M.C. Escher designs that Ellen page explores all really make the art direction here stand out.  A movie about dream architects was probably destined to win this, but it was the innovation and work of this design team that allowed the movie to pull it all off.
