2009 Best Original Screenplay Winner

Inglorious Basterds

It’s interesting how Tarentino began his career as someone more respected as a screenwriter than as a director.  Over the last decade he’s become a lot more of a visual auteur, but he’s still writing brilliantly.  His dialogue still crackles and his structures are still unconventional, but he’s a lot more subtle about how he employs both than he used to be.  This is a mature script from someone who could be considered a bit of a man-child.
