2009 Best Foreign Film Winner

The White Ribbon

This is easily the most acclaimed movie among these nominees and rightfully so.  This is a pretty hard movie to talk about.  It certainly isn’t a thriller, but it isn’t merely a drama either, at its heart it’s simply a Michael Haneke film and if you’ve seen his work you know what that means.  I wish I’d had a chance to see A Prophet and Summer Hours so that this could be a true comparison.
